9-10 May 2008: Conference 'Mixed Agreements Revisited'

Twenty five years ago, Henry Schermers and David O’Keeffe edited a seminal book on Mixed Agreements comprising papers based on contributions to a conference organised by the Europa Institute in Leiden. Since then, the phenomenon of mixity has lost none of its interest, as mixed agreements have proliferated.

The Leiden Europa Institute and the University of Bristol are celebrating that successful experience by holding a conference in Leiden on 9-10 May. The aim of the conference is to:
  • reassess issues examined in that volume
  • draw on the experience of the intervening years
  • explore the practice of the negotiation, conclusion, implementation and interpretation of mixed agreements look ahead to the future of mixity in the era of the Lisbon Treaty.
These issues will be examined from a theoretical as well as practical point of view by speakers from academia, practice and EU institutions.
