Inter-library Loan (ILL)

If a book or an article is not available in Leiden, it can be requested from another library through ILL.

Password & credit
Before making use of this service a special password and a credit can be obtained at the information desk.

Books
Books can be found and ordered through PiCarta.
Go to PiCarta

The costs are € 6.00 per volume and are automatically deducted from your credit once the request has been met.

If a book cannot be supplied, you will be informed and your credit will be restored.

The delivery period is between one and four weeks. The supplying library will send the book to the Law Library, which will send you a notice of arrival. The book can then be collected from the information desk.

The loan period for publications borrowed through ILL is two weeks. For renewal, reminders and fines the same rules apply as for the books you borrow from the Law Library.

Articles
Articles can be looked up in PiCarta. If the article is not in here, you can submit the author, title, source, volume, year and page numbers.

Photocopies of articles will be supplied and sent directly to your address.

Costs:
  • Articles (up to ten pages): € 6.00
  • Articles (more then 10 pages): € 0.60/page
