General information

The Institute consists of two departments:

• The Department of Criminal Law and Procedure
  This department is involved with education and research in the field of criminal law and criminal procedure. The Bachelor and Master course of Criminal Law is mainly about Dutch law and is only given in Dutch. There are however some optional courses given in English. 
  The chairman of this department is prof. J.L. de Wijkerslooth.
  
  
• The Department of Criminology and Penology
  This department is involved with education and research in the field criminology and penology. There is in Leiden a special Bachelor/Master course in Criminology, but at the moment this course is only given in Dutch. 
  The chairman of this department is prof. P. Nieuwbeerta.
  

The scientific director of the Institute is prof. J.L. de Wijkerslooth. He is also chairman of the Board of the Institute.
