- Arrival on Schiphol
- All terminals of Schiphol are connected through walkways. The central hall is also the railway station: you can buy tickets here from vending machines or from the ticket office. Trains depart from a level below the central hall. Some vending machines take credit cards for payment. You can select the machine to work in English instead of Dutch. Tickets from Schiphol to Leiden Centraal (single journey, full fare), bought from a machine, cost 5 euro. You do not need a reservation. Please note that a return ticket is valid only for one day. Almost any train with final destination 'Leiden Centraal', ' Dordrecht', 'Den Haag Centraal' or 'Vlissingen' will do. These trains all leave from platform 4, 5 or 6. The trip will take only 15 to 20 minutes. Be careful though, these trajectories are popular with pickpockets.
- Arrival in Leiden
- The main station of Leiden ('Leiden Centraal') is where you need to get off the train. From Leiden Centraal, you can take a bus (15 minutes), walk (15 minutes) or take a taxi (10 to 15 euro). The address of the Kamerlingh Onnes Building is Steenschuur 25. Buses you can take are line 169 or 182 to Alphen aan den Rijn, 187 to Gouda, 32 or 206 to Zoetermeer, 31 to Leiden, or 42 to Leiderdorp. If you take a bus, get off at the Breestraat stop. On the map added below, you see the bus stop (red triangular flag), and the Kamerlingh Onnes Building (green square flag).
- Please note that the route that Google Maps provides between the railway station and the Kamerlingh Onnes Building is suitable for cars, but that you can walk along a shorter route: Stationsweg -> Steenstraat -> Blauwpoortsbrug -> Prinsessekade -> Kort Rapenburg -> Rapenburg -> Steenschuur. This route takes you along one of the most beautiful canals in the Netherlands: the Rapenburg.
- Staying in Leiden
- There are not many hotels in Leiden. You may consider the following because of their central location:
- Usually, you get the best rates through www.booking.com . As an alternative to staying in Leiden, you may consider staying in The Hague (Den Haag), which is 10 minutes from Leiden by train.
- Conference locations
- All rooms used during the conference are located inside the Kamerlingh Onnes Building, on the ground floor or on the first floor. Please follow the sign posts after you enter the building. The address of the building is: Steenschuur 25.
- The conference reception will be held on Thursday, December 13, at the 'Juridisch café' (legal cafe) prior to the conference dinner. Anyone visiting the main conference will be welcome to attend.
- The conference dinner will be held at the Faculty Club, Rapenburg 6 in Leiden. May we please remind you that you have to register and pay separately for a dinner ticket. The dinner is in buffet form, so that your particular diet restrictions will form no obstacle. Please let us know if you have special dietary restrictions (e.g. specific allergies), so that we can try to take these into account.
- Information
- If you need information during the conference, you can ask your questions at the registration desk. If you have urgent questions during your stay in the Netherlands, you may contact the program chair (Laurens Mommers) on his mobile phone: +31 628 83 12 05. We prefer, however, to receive your questions through e-mail, at info@jurix2007.org.
