- As many things in life, digital rights management has a two-sided face. Although it offers copyright owners protection against violation of their rights, it can shield the work off from the public and prevent them from making a (legal) private copy. And DRM-techniques have and most probably will violate privacy rights of consumers. The current situation gives the rightholders ample protection but leaves a lot to be desired for in many other aspects. Both sides of the DRM-face will be subject of the weblog 'Digital Rights Management', which can be found through www.digitalcopyrights.info. The weblog is written by Mrs. I.M. - The evaluation of the ‘Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens’ (Protection of personal data Law, Wbp) will be run in two phases. The first is to gain an insight into the most important evaluation points of the Wbp for further empirical research. The original aim of the Wbp was to introduce generic legislation to guarantee the processing of personal data. Open standards concerning care, proportionality and subsidiarity are required.
