Leiden team second in European Round Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition 2014
We are very proud to announce that the Leiden team has won the second place in the European Round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition 2014, this year held in Wroclaw, Poland from 14-17 May 2014.
The Leiden team consisted of Eleana Mavroeidi, Benjamyn Scott and Federico Bergamasco, coached by Neta Palkovitz and Thomas Leclerc. They met the team of Université Paris-Sud in the finals. 17 teams from universities from all over Europe participated in the competition. Federico Bergamasco received the best oralist award.
Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition
The competition is organised each year since 1992 by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), presided by IIASL deputy director Tanja Masson-Zwaan. Regional Rounds are held in four regions: Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and Africa. In October, the regional winners gather for the World Finals, held in conjunction with the International Astronautical Congress and the IISL Colloquium on the Law of Outer Space. The world finals are judged each year by sitting members of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This year, the world finals will be held in Toronto on 2 October.
