Mr  Fabio Tronchetti studied from 2000 to 2004 at the University of Cagliari, Italy, where he graduated cum laude. From September 2003 to February 2004 he specialized in public international law and european law at Cambridge University. In 2006 he obtained an Advanced Master Degree in International Relations at Bologna University, Italy.  
From 2004 to 2006 Mr Tronchetti served as assistant professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Cagliari, Italy, in the field of public and private international law and european law. In October 2006 he started his PhD research at the International Institute of Air and Space Law, Leiden University, the Netherlands, focusing on the legal issues related to the possibility to exploit for commercial purposes the resources of the Moon and other celestial bodies. In March 2008 he has been appointed Academic Coordinator and Lecturer for the LL.M and LL.C programmes at the International Institute of Air and Space Law, Leiden University, the Netherlands.  
Mr Tronchetti participated as a speaker in a number of International Conferences on space law issues. In September 2007 he was awarded with the ”Prof. Dr. I.H. PH. Diederiks-Verschoor Award” by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) for the best paper submitted by an author not older than 40 years during the 58th International Astronautical Congress of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF).
